A Cup of Water for an Unknown Child · Kinshasa, DRC · Last updated: October 2026

Our Transparency Commitment

A Cup of Water for an Unknown Child is a small nonprofit based in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. We believe every donor deserves to know exactly how their generosity is used. This report explains, in plain language, where our resources come from and how we put them to work.

How We Receive Funds

We are funded almost entirely by individual donors like you. Online donations are collected through Givebutter, our secure donation platform; some supporters also give in person or by bank transfer. We accept no funding that would compromise our mission or independence.

How Funds Are Used

The great majority of every donation goes directly to our water projects: drilling and equipping wells, solar pump installations, and community training in neighborhoods across Kinshasa. Remaining funds cover essential operational costs — transport, materials, and coordination — which we keep deliberately lean as a volunteer-driven team.

Our Projects to Date

Since our first well in Badara in 2021, we have completed projects in Badara, Bibwa, Kinkole, Kin/Plazza, and N'sele — bringing clean water to thousands of people. Each completed project is documented with photos and community impact details on our Projects page.

Accountability

We track every donation and expense, and project funds are used only for their intended purpose. Our work is done in partnership with local community leaders, who help us verify that each well is serving the people it was built for.
